Hormone Replacement Therapy
Progesterone is produced in the ovaries after ovulation and is also made by the placenta during pregnancy. Although its role is more specialized to aid in the menstrual cycle, it is a crucial hormone, and imbalance can affect uterine lining, pregnancy, and estrogen production after ovulation.
Although testosterone is considered a male hormone, it still plays a small but vital role in women's health and is produced in tiny amounts in the adrenal glands and ovaries. It is an essential hormone for libido, regulation of menstrual cycles, as well as bone and muscle strength.
When any of these hormones are out of balance, it is important to return them to homeostasis. Women’s needs for each of these hormones fluctuate throughout life due to puberty, pregnancy, breastfeeding, and even throughout the menstrual cycle each month. As menopause approaches, hormone production in the ovaries begins to slow down - estrogen begins to fluctuate more, and progesterone levels steadily decline. This typically happens around the age of 50 but can vary widely between individuals.
At Dr. Dekel, we use BioIdentical hormone therapy specifically designed for your personal needs.
Diabetes
With each form of diabetes, patients have to manage their blood sugar levels. Glucose comes from the carb and proteins that we eat, and our bodies need to maintain certain levels of glucose in the blood to operate. For patients with Type 1 diabetes, treatments focus on managing the levels of insulin in the body. When you eat carbohydrates, the body breaks them down into glucose, with insulin being responsible for moving the glucose from the blood into the body's cells, where it is either used for energy production or converted into Triglycerides and then to stored fat.
Diabetes results in the body having high glucose, or sugar, levels in the blood. Also known as juvenile diabetes, Type 1 diabetes is a chronic condition that develops during childhood when the pancreas produces little to no insulin to effectively manage the body’s glucose levels. Type 2 diabetes, or adult-onset diabetes, accounts for almost 80% of diabetes cases. In Type 2 diabetes, over time, your body becomes unable to process blood sugar as effectively as when you were younger, because of insulin resistance, resulting in high blood sugar.
Women's Health
Maintaining cognitive health is essential to the overall wellbeing of every woman. At Dr. Dekel MD, we understand the unique ways that women’s and men’s health differ, and strive to address your individual needs from that perspective. Many neurological conditions are brought about by age, but there are still many more that are a result of injury, illness, or medications, to name a few. Unfortunately, conventional medicine generally “treats” cognitive and neurological conditions with medication, ignoring the underlying cause completely. While medication can certainly be a benefit, it is not always the best option and sometimes only functions as a bandage covering up the problem underneath.
Erectile Dysfunction
There are several different kinds of male sexual dysfunctions, and at Dr. Dekel MD, we are here to help find the best solution for your individual needs. Sexual dysfunction is considered any physical or psychological problem which prevents you or your partner from achieving sexual satisfaction and can include conditions such as erectile dysfunction, ejaculation disorders, and decreased sexual desire or libido. While it affects men of all ages, it does become more common with age, and it is estimated that it affects 50% of American men over the age of 40.

Pain Management
Dr. Dekel MD specializes in pain management. According to the American Academy of Pain Medicine (AAPM), “Chronic pain affects more Americans than
diabetes, heart disease and cancer combined.” If you are experiencing pain, we want to help! We are dedicated to helping patients regain pain-free lives. Oftentimes, people do not seek help for pain until it worsens. We want to help at the onset of symptoms, so they do not progress.
Weight Loss & Nutrition
There is more than one way to achieve a healthy lifestyle. Many people think that the only way to be healthy is to be on an extreme diet and exercise daily. We recommend that you start slow, and pace yourself. For example, simply choosing one thing that you could do every day to improve your health is a common way for people to begin. Is there a food or activity that is a part of your daily routine that could be replaced with one that is a healthier choice? Could you replace your soda with a sparkling water or water bottle? You are more likely to stick to a change if you start small rather than trying to change all your unhealthy habits at once. Becoming healthy does not happen overnight, but over time you can continue to make changes to improve your health.
Breast, Thyroid and Dental Thermography
What is thermography?
Thermography is a valuable tool used by a health care practitioner to evaluate the health of the body. Thermography uses a specialized camera to take pictures of an infrared image from the body. It serves as a clinical imaging procedure for detecting and monitoring a number of diseases and physical injuries, by showing thermal abnormalities present in the body. It is painless and there is no contact with the body.
Thermography offers individuals an alternative or complimentary means to assessing tissue to evaluate health and prevent major health challenges.
According to the American Cancer Society (ACS), breast cancer is the most common cancer among American women, with the exception of skin cancer. Still, death rates from breast cancer have been declining since about 1989, which, according to the ACS, is believed to be the result of earlier detection through screening and increased awareness, as well as improved treatment.
Breast thermography can help address symptoms and disorders before they become problematic.
With breast thermography, a sensitive camera is used to pick up heat when directed at the breast (cancer cells hold onto heat); it lights up when the picture is taken. Breast thermography measures only the breast and results appear in a visual picture. Results are printed immediately and offer enormous insight into a person’s health.
Breast thermography is completely safe and there is no radiation OR COMPRESSION. Women who opt out of mammography DUE TO THE INCREASED RISK ASSOCIATED WITH COMPRESSION AND RADIATION, (ACCORDING TO DR MERCOLA RISK INCREASES BY 1% TO 2% PER STUDY), SHOULD choose annual or bi-annual thermograms to chart their progress.
Thermography for Thyroid Screening
Thermography is used to care for patients who seek non-invasive monitoring for issues with their thyroid, as well as when sub-clinical (unobservable) symptoms are present. Thermography can offer monitoring for treatment programs as well as serve as a non-invasive means of screening cancer from benign cysts, for example.
Thermography for Dental Screening
Research is now revealing that your dental health may impact the quality of your overall health. Dental thermography offers a non-invasive, radiation-free scan of the head and neck region to gain better insight of your body’s current health presentation, as well as any potential issues. It can be used to identify infections and inflammation that may be causing other problems in the body.
How soon will I receive my results?
Results for thermography are immediate. Results are displayed in the form of graphs and diagrams for analysis, which can provide a unique biochemical profile for each individual tested.AN ASYMMETRY AND TEMPERATURE ELEVATION INDICATES AN INCREASED RISK THAT WILL BE ADDRESSED WITH A PREVENTION PROTOCOL AND A CLOSE FOLLOW UP USING THERMOGRAPHY AND SONOGRAM. A subsequent scan will reveal the effectiveness of the intervention strategies. Results are read and interpreted by DR DEKEL, BOARD CERTIFIED OB-GYN AND BREAST THERMOGRAPHY.
Based on the results of your thermogram, you can be proactive in your health care to try to balance any systems that are out of balance.
Prevention is so important. It is easier to stay healthy than to get healthy.
